In celebration of our 75 years in business, ODL, Inc. (ODL) is making $1,000 donations to over 100 charities across the globe. As a reflection of the family owned door glass manufacturer’s long-standing values and purpose statement, ODL employees nominated non-profit organizations in their communities whose impact they wanted recognized and supported. While the initiative was designed to select 75 employee-nominated organizations for a total donation of $75,000, CEO and owner Jeff Mulder immediately approved additional funding upon learning that more than 100 had been submitted for consideration.
ODL is headquartered in Zeeland, Michigan with additional manufacturing and distribution locations throughout the United States and in Canada, Mexico, the UK, and China. Employees throughout the company nominated organizations representing a diversity of causes and locations.
“It was important for us to not use this anniversary as a time to merely praise ourselves for a job well done,” said Mulder about the initiative. “It was also an opportunity for us to give something back to many of the organizations across the globe who are making our communities better.”
The year 2020 has not been the landmark celebration year that ODL had intended at its outset. Although this community initiative had always been a highlight of the plans, many other internal celebrations have been put on hold due to the unfolding COVID-19 situation, which Mulder reports has now become a pivotal moment in ODL’s history.
“We closed our plants down, then we were deemed essential, so we had to do everything in our power to open back up safely. Now, we are making product faster than ever before just to meet the building industry’s demand. We simply can’t hire people fast enough right now. So, to say our 75th year has been a wild ride, would be putting it mildly.” Mulder said.
Organizations receiving the donations will be notified in the coming days. Those interested in working at ODL should explore open positions at our Careers page.
